Walking trail dedication, employee recognition luncheon and portrait unveiling among
Oct. 19 activities.
Thriving is an apt descriptor for the state of Georgia Campus 鈥 色中色. The campus is continually celebrating, evolving, commemorating, and exploring the
world around us.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, 17 employees were honored for their five and 10 years
of service at PCOM. President Jay Feldstein said, 鈥淚 can鈥檛 underscore how important you are to our success. Thank you for everything
you do.鈥
With affection and humor, accolades like 鈥渜uietly brilliant,鈥 鈥渃ollaborative spirit,鈥
the power behind the throne,鈥 鈥渢he great White鈥 鈥渆xcellent,鈥 鈥渁mazing鈥 and 鈥渟ecret
rapper鈥 were used by presenters to describe the honorees at the Employee Recognition
Luncheon.
Make-it-yourself trail mix and cupcakes accompanied the campus鈥 walking trail ribbon-cutting
held also on the same event-filled day. Twelve alumni and friends of the College donated
money for the walking trail which was matched by a grant from the PCOM Alumni Association.
Donors include: H. William Craver III, DO; Walter C. Ehrenfeuchter, DO; Robert Fanning,
DO; Bruce A. Feinberg, DO; R. Bryan Ginn, Jr.; Gretta A. Gross, DO; Joe Tzong-Jyh
Huong, DO; Jeffrey K. Kingsley, DO; Byron A. Littlefield, DO; Donald H. Rosenbaum,
Jr., DO; Kerry Scott, DO; and Wayne Sikes. An inaugural walk led by President Feldstein
and the donors followed the formal ceremony.
Later in the day, Founding Dean and former Chief Academic Officer Paul Evans, DO,
was honored at a portrait unveiling in the Atrium. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a marvelous celebration for
me,鈥 Dr. Evans said. In opening remarks, Dr. Feldstein described him as a 鈥渂uilder,鈥
a 鈥渇ounder,鈥 and a 鈥渕entor to all of us.鈥
Director of Student Affairs, Patience Mason, said, 鈥淗e鈥檚 a funny, warm and caring
individual鈥 who 鈥渆ncourages you to be a better version of yourself.鈥 Dr. Evans鈥 portrait
will be placed in a prominent location on campus.
The day鈥檚 events were capped with a discussion by Holiday Simmons, MSW, who spoke
about the challenges LGBTQ people have in accessing health care. He presented a case
study for students to learn how to identify gaps in healthcare delivery.
PCOM Georgia has been serving students and the community for 20 years as a branch campus of Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), a private, not-for-profit, accredited institution
of higher education established in 1899. Located in Suwanee (Gwinnett County), PCOM
Georgia offers doctoral degrees in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy and physical therapy.
Graduate degrees are offered in biomedical sciences, medical laboratory science and
